There are several issues that people will face when they try to email photos taken on their digital cameras.

With the quality of the pictures becoming better and better, one picture can get as large as 5 megabytes using the latest 10 megapixel camera.

To put that into perspective, Gmail only allows a total of 6 megabytes per email.  This makes it difficult for a person to send a set of pictures from their digital camera easily.  Even when using a cable or dsl internet provider email account, which should allow the email attachment to be much larger, say 60 megs, for example, the time that the 10 pictures would take to send is well over an hour.

It is simple to work around these limitations and restrictions on size, and Windows XP as well as Vista offer a simple way to do so, as long as you have an email account that allows you to send email from a non-web based email application like Outlook, or Outlook Express.
